How it all Started...
Growing up in the Annapolis Valley as the youngest child of a large family, my parents didn't own a car. However, on Sunday afternoons my older brother with his family would take us for drives over many back roads usually ending up at the seashore for a picnic. Later, I spent much time with my own children exploring the back roads and relaxing at the Bay of Fundy shore.
I entered the Nursing Profession and over the years worked in Nova Scotia. I also lived in Quebec for five years and while there, took the opportunity to study French.
On my return to Nova Scotia in 1994 , I had a chance to become involved in tourism. I spent 2 summers in Bar Harbor, Maine working for Nova Scotia Tourism, which I thoroughly enjoyed. So, during the next 3 years, I took several tourism courses, including a tour guide course.
I still continued nursing, but when driving visiting family and friends about, I thought of how great it would be if I could show tourists some of the out of the way places... the many beautiful places that they wouldn't be able to find on their own.
So in 2002, I set the wheels in motion to start my own tour business. In 2003, I started offering tours part-time while continuing to nurse part-time. This was much more fun than nursing, so the following 2 years I took a "Leave of Absence" from May to Nov & concentrated on my tours.
In 2006, I took the giant leap to retirement from nursing, and so I'm now doing what I enjoy immensely, "Showing tourists the beauty and uniqueness of our area while we leisurely explore the back roads".
